Adult Female Yellow Tail Coris:

Two females:

She was willijng to let me get close for som shots.

This male on the other hand was not interested in me getting close and I was not able to get as clear and sharp of images but the colors displayed in some warranted inclusion.

I noticed the pectoral fins have a green cast to their splines whereas the females are more golden orange. The dorsal fin has a band of gold on the male.

He has yet to display his green/yellow vertical stripe.

His head is getting darker and the green stripe or band is starting to show.

Poor focus but the colors!

After encouring a smaller male he is now flaring up with his yellow-green band:

The big guy is at the top in the image below and chasing the younger male away:

As Juveniles, both male and female looked like this:

It appears that the color transiton starts at the tail and works forward with the head being the last to change.
