




Poor visibility due to large winter surf has made reasonable snorkeling all but impossible but a friend (PK) and I took to a location less impacted. On the way in from a marginal swim, I spoted someting about 1.5" long on the surface that looked like it had two large eyes and was alive. Further investigation revealed that is was a small squid.


To the far left of both of the images above you can just make out the mostly transparent fellow. Cropped and zoomed in:


The squid was not interested in being too close to us or my large camera housing and you could see a darkness develop in irs body and then be squirted out as a small dense black cloud as it would jet away from the location. I was too ocupied watching it and trying to get in close to take any more photos.



Next day, same place...



And on the beach, Royalty was being accomodated:


This shot was at about 5 PM and she had been sleeping on the beach since 5:30 AM.
