Prototype LunaSol 27 hosting a Cree MC-E LED in the center:
The light uses a 2x123 McCLickie pak to power a BadBoy 780 mA converter driving the Cree MC-E (two parallel pair of two dice in series) providing approximately 390 mA to each die. The ring of Nichia 3 mm LED's are driven in series at ~18 mA by a second BadBoy converter. The Nichias put out about 16 lumens of light and the Cree approximately 295 lumens.
Below is a beam shot comparison with a similar sized, 2x123 light:
SureFire L2 proto "Dumb Head" using MC-E Dumb light engine:
A-19 Head with modified McR-19XR & Dumb MC-E LE (left) & Stock head (right):
The stock head measured 11 & 101 Lumens on low and high respectively. The MC-E A-19 head measured 32 & 347 lumens on low and high respectively.
