The Pacific Golden Plover winters in Hawaii and breeds in Alaska during the summer months. It follows a similar migration pattern as the Humpback and is present on Maui during the same time frame. It is interesting that the activities are reversed but visitation time and destinations similar. The plover below was photographed at a local beach park north of Kaanapali.

Wing and feather adjustment above or perhaps just a yoga move...

Above, the plover seeks a snack and below it comes up with what I suspect is a cockroach.

Above more wing stretching or yoga. I followed the plover from the beach edge across the lawn and then back to the beach again. It never showed any real concern or took flight. When I remained stationary long enough, it would go about hunting for food and both approach me as well as move away.
